Exclamation Should it be harder to make a guild?

What I would like is something like you need 6 people to sign your Application to be able to create a Guild, cos they are 2 many jokers of Guilds Around and spam the whole chat channel together with the WTS guys , and Most of this people don’t know what’s a Guild all about.

They tried to stop that with the 100gold thing, but I guess it dint work.

(And some know what I am talking about another game has this)

You may say it might be unfair to others, but I always find it amazing when people spam I made a guild how do I get a cape! I try to explain and they haven’t got a clue and 80% of this people just started to play the game like 10 minutes ago.

Or make the Guild registry more expensive, like a Guild Hall that should be the top pride of a guild, to say you made it, but no you can go and get one Guild Hall for 25k now.

I understand that Guild Wars it’s a massive PvP as well and maybe by doing that it may scare the Newbies away, but I think if this was done maybe some guild would bond more.

Kind of weird talking about this, cos we don’t have any problems at the Guild that I am a member.

Don’t know what do you guys think?

I think this is a good idea and it could of been done instead of the 100 gold invite espeailly if they leave.I would even make it more than 6 say 12.There isn't just PvP guild out there as there a lot of PvE guild as there are more PvE players .maybe 10 k to start a guild up and the last a saw few nights ago a sigil is going for 22K.There doesn't seem to be support for the small PvE guilds that are struggling.I think Arenanet and NC soft need to look at what is happening to all the guilds not just the ladder guilds.

I have recruited and lost so many guildies just becuase they see a better guild to join and I did a lot of training with them like getting there skills etc.I would like to see more support for guilds espacially the smaller ones and Oh I was scammed as well by someone who wanted a halmet.

Hmm, make guilds harder to make... That's not a bad idea, you know if you want to take away the whole point of the game.

I have no clue why people care so much about what people do with their own characters, if they want to make a guild let them do it, if they spam "WTS GUILD!" in local chat then turn it off. Forcing the 6 or 12 people to sign some thing would be really lame because some people like to make guilds just so they can stay in contact with their friends which may be less than six people. I don't even know six people that play GW and I sure as heck don't know 12 people that know GW even exsists, what if I want to make a guild with them just so I don't always have to open up my friends list to whisper them.

As for Guild Halls being cheap, so what, are you afraid of a little compition? So what some newbie decides to make a guild and has no clue what it is or how to get a hall, he/she/it is a newbie and it is your job as a experience player to lend them some help (I use to have a character in presearing just to help answer newbie questions). Shunning someone because they don't know something is not exactly the best way to say "Welcome to Guild Wars, enjoy your stay!"

As I said before who cares if they buy a guild or a cape or a hall just for a small guild that will never go anywhere, its not coming out of your pocket is it? I say let people do whatever they want as long as it does not break the rules.

So I will wrap this all up by saying adding more fees or more people needed to make a guild is just not a good idea. If they put this in they may as well put in a new rule " W/Mo are obviously noobs so therefore they can never leave presearing!" Now, now I know someone is likely to say I totaly don't know what I am talking about and thats fine, but coming from a small friendly guild I obviously think this is an lame idea. And thats all I have to say about that.

I personally don’t like the idea.

Before we even got Guild Wars, my friend and I had already came up with names, tags and cape designs for our guild. We were determined to make one and stick through it with each other.

So obviously when we both got the game – that was the first thing we did. We were still in pre-searing and poor. (We all know gold can be difficult to get in pre-searing when you’re new, let alone 10k!) But we coughed up 100g and formed our guild anyway.

Given your suggestion, how was I to have rallied up 6 or more other players to support my guild application? I knew no one and haven’t made any friends at that time. And what’s to stop some players from going, “Haha, you noob, I’m not signing your application for another stupid guild.”

But I do understand how there are plenty of ignorant players who refuse to research the information before asking. Which leads me to state: People who don’t know how to use the internet as a tool for information, shouldn’t be allowed to play online games at all. There’s a level of competency I’d like to see among more players.

Can’t deal with it? Turn off the Local chat channel. I do, most of the time. If you want to be helpful, point them in the right direction but don’t give them the answer. Increasing awareness is the only way to solve the problem of ignorant players. Not to make something more expensive. Because now you have people begging for more money to help them start their guild.

That’s my 2 cents.

*EDIT*
I completely agree with what Ultimate_Gaara stated as well. Didn't see it till I posted. XD

This was discussed before. And I believe it got closed because it turned into a flame war.

But anyways, Ultimate_Gaara and toramiko, they pretty much summed up the general response. And I agree with them.

maybe a beter way to get what you want is not to make building a new guild harder, but allowing those payers that want a small guild to be able to do just that.

i personally would root for the mini-guild idea...a full size guild would have their own island (the current guild halls) and full versions of guild add ons.
instead of having to pay 200 gold and 2k for a cape just to get your own guild isle (what i could sugest calling the current halls)
pay 100 gold and create a mini-guild of no more than 25 players.
you could then have a small guild hall (a sort of fort..much like a wild west fort or mot and baily castle..a few buildings and a open space thats is walled in by some type of similar style wall)
a cut down version of the full guild halls facilities and be allowed to pvp in mini-guild gvg and so on with other mini-guilds.

if you wanted to upgrade, just pay an extra price and be upgraded to full guild ^^

(allows for rpg and friend guilds to be made without affecting the full size active guilds. and not being able to go up agains the full guilds mean theres no point in smurfing them..especialy as there would probably be no mini-guild GvG ladders heeh)

i think making guilds harder to make would eliminate the 10,000 dead guilds out there. i have a great guild i started and we get at least one new person every night while i play, ive had 3 guilds merge with us and out guild is awsome but so many people out there get a noob leader who makes this guild thinking he is all that and ruins the game for others who join his guild.

No. If I want to make a one man guild I should be allowed to, what's the problem with that anyways?

I like to use guilds to get to know people in online games. I have played a game that required 6 people to sign up together to create the guild and I hated that cause I didnt know 6 people. Why not just join another person's guild?....because finding a good guild with fun people is almost impossible. So I created my own with my little cape and stupid name and invited people until I created a guild of people I could call my friends. I understand some of your frustration with the guilds, but restricting the ability to create one would not only weed out some of the annoying guilds but also some of the good ones.

Some people like to be loners and form a guild for the sole purpose of not being bothered by other people trying to recruit them. Now they have to convince/beg/bribe 6 people to help them do so? Yeah, um, no.

New players. What can you do? THEY'RE EVERYWHERE!

25k is still a sizable chunk, and difficult to reach on your first character. By the time someone earns that money, they are no longer a noob/newb, right? (Unless it's eBay gold, but that's another matter entirely.) When we bought our hall, it was 55k. We all had to pitch in. I think it ought to be a reasonable price, one which allows the leader to purchase one on his/her own.

I'm not clear on this. Do you mean to say, that new players will be more likely to PvP when they join a large established guild, than they would if they formed a mini-guild of their own? That may be true.

Then I'm not certain what the issue is for you. Does it boil down to just the local chat bothering you?
